About Me. The Short Version.

​

My name is Mary Cusack, and I have worked in higher education administration for 20 years. In 2016 I became involved with the Second Chance Pell Program at Mott Community College in Flint, Michigan. That program fueled my passion for providing educational opportunities to marginalized populations, and I began working on other social justice initiatives. I soon found that I could not continue in my position as an academic dean, coordinate the Second Chance Pell Program, and develop other initiatives...there simply aren't enough hours in the day. Something had to give, so at the end of 2020 I made the difficult choice to step away from my role as a dean and work as a consultant to try to see some of my passion projects to fruition. I mean, what the heck? 2020 wasn't anyone's favorite year, aside from maybe Jeff Bezos and some pharmaceutical companies. 2021 has got to be better, and I hope that my work can give hope to many people who have been socialized to think that they couldn't succeed in college. I truly believe that education can level the playing field for the disenfranchised, so let's play ball!
